Overview
YouView started life as Project Canvas at the BBC and became a joint venture between some of the UK’s biggest names in TV and broadband — BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Five, BT, Talk Talk and Arquiva.
I joined the team as the Visual Design Lead for Project Canvas. It soon proved to be a huge undertaking, blending the non-subscription Freeview TV with On Demand and Catch Up viewing habits made popular by BBC iPlayer a few years earlier.
